An Element of Surprise !!!!

Ratz says:

It was another of those pleasant mornings. I went to the park at 6: 30 in the morning and seeing only two people there surprised me. It was something unusual. There had been a lesser number even before but never this low.

So I began my walk with this element of surprise. It was windy today as well. There were many birds flying over head. There is a tree where you can hear the loud chirruping of sparrows. It is really pleasant and the park echoes with their musical every morning. I stopped to have a glance today and found a nest on one of the branches. Some family morning rituals I believe!!!!!!!

Betsy came around again today but she was just running all over and there was no way I could have caught her on my camera. Overall, my morning walk was good and relieving.

Hope that you all also had a good morning walk…… Have a great day ahead…..

I woke up early today, somewhere around five in the morning. It had not dawned yet and there was this quietness that was so appealing.

When I went to the park it was still dark at six- thirty. It was a cold windy morning and yet there were more than usual crowd in the park. As I walked, the wind gushed in giving me chills and goose bumps through my sweat shirt. Nonetheless it was a good feeling.

As I had already mentioned, the park had an uplift the past week. It looked good and greener……. In this picture, you can see a dove sitting on an age old tree….. I couldn’t go close fearing it might decide to fly away. So that answers the haphazard picture… You can also see the houses surrounding the park and one of the park’s entrances……

And my dear Betsy made an appearance and in a classy manner, I would say…..  Friendly and always ready to pose, each picture she gives is a unique one.

My morning had a good start. I listened to songs on the radio as I walked and my mind was humming along too. I hope that you all had a great and interesting morning walk as well…..

An Evening Walk !!!

Ratz says:
Hi everyone…. I hope that all you morning walkers are doing great and enjoying your walks in your part of the world…. And thank you dear Karen, I am doing good already….

Today I converted my morning walk into an evening walk. I went to the park with my sister and I know that might not be a big thing to mention… but believe me if my sister goes to the park, it’s a miracle….. and yeah miracles do happen once in a blue moon…..

Speaking of the moon, it had come up early and it looked beautiful. Just half the part visible and with a bright star near its chin like trying to cast off an evil eye…. It was a clear sky and fresh evening air… there weren’t many people in the park though. I was expecting kids playing cricket or football… but it was a very quiet evening… my sister and I talked about a few things, laughed and just glided along as the evening passed by…. I took this picture from the side walk…. and the next picture that is the lamp post there......

The best thing was that the park had been given an up lift. The soil has been levelled and the pavements cleaned up….. it looked so new and fresh…. There was something so different and yet everything looked familiar… I showed all the corners and the places where I took the pictures from… She gave a unhappy look at the place where that kitty had had her breakfast… the poor bird’s feathers are still there like waiting to be acknowledged……

I am waiting for my tomorrow so I can see everything that had changed there….. Until tomorrow...... Bye

A Really Beautiful Morning !!!

Ratz says:

A very good morning to all !!!

It was a very beautiful morning here.. Though I struggled to get out of my bed because of the cold, later I realised that it was worth it… and I am happy that I was able to catch the serenity of the morning. It’s getting colder day after day and the number of people in the park going low. Some of them were familiar faces while some had taken new.

The gardener was watering the plants again today and it was a sight to remember… I must be imagining but I felt that the plants were dancing with the water and probably some music which only they could hear….. and once the earth took in the water it sent out such an aroma which I believe is the best scent….

This picture hasn’t come out that well but the two birds that you see there are mynahs… maybe a couple…. So let’s give them a moment…

They say “Great people leave their footsteps behind for others to follow” I don’t know who said that…… But the other day when we were cleaning the park I placed my foot into mud (of course! I didn’t see that it was there) and two days of basking in the sun and I have my own footprint (actually shoe print) to show the world…..

So all the dear people.. esp. my morning walking friends have a great morning walk…..…

Another Fine Morning!!!!

It was another pleasant morning and a chilly one too. My friend Karen is right when she said that walking in the cold is a good experience. Feeling the fresh, cold air entering your lungs while walking in such weather is a blissful experience.

The park had been watered today. There were more people in the park than yesterday and their talking and laughing occasionally broke the silence of the morning.

Betsy decided to make an appearance and the poses she comes up with always gives me a smile. Today she was exploring something in the bushes when I took this picture. Isn’t she adorably cute?

The sidewalk looked beautiful to me today so I took a picture of it as well. The trees covering the sidewalk will take you to a romantic fairy tale scene. I’ll try getting a picture tomorrow. I didn’t see squirrels today though I saw some sparrows and some mynahs………

The best thing that we did today was cleaning up the park. After Diwali, the place had taken some mess, and so a few of us hand picked the bits of papers and the remnants of the fireworks. We are expecting a cleaner place tomorrow. Let’s see…..

See you all tomorrow…. Hope you have a great day ahead….

A Chilly Morning!!!!

I woke up way early today. It had dawned but the sky was still dark. One thing about approaching winters is that you can never keep a track of time.

It was an unusually chilly morning but a pleasant one. I had to put on a sweat- shirt to keep myself warm. There were two or three people in the park at the time I reached the park. It was really quiet. This following picture is from the adjoining playground- the kit of pigeons that I had mentioned in my first post.

This next picture was taken just a few seconds later….. Yes, they just vanished in the air!!!!

A host of sparrows were chirruping on one of the trees and they were doing it just good enough to add music to the morning. The squirrels and the mynahs all came out late- maybe because of the chillness.

It’s just the next week after Diwali and the mood is still festive. Maybe I’ll see more people tomorrow. Overall, it was a pleasant and quiet morning and I am waiting for my next morning walk.

Sunday!!! Funday!!! And My Karate class

I had my week end karate class in the morning so I had to skip my morning walk today. We all were having our Diwali hangover and certainly in no mood for practice. So, today I would just write about the things that I saw in the karate park…..

This is the view from the bench where we keep our kits. It was a very warm day today and we welcomed it. The weather is all set to change course as autumn has arrived and winter will follow soon. It’s hard time running on the pavement for the cold air offers no help. But now that we had had our share of the sun and summer’s back packed to spend its vacations we are ready to welcome winter. Chilly mornings and fog, mist and the daily lag, I am confused whether I’ll be able to continue with my morning walks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw a number of squirrels today. And everytime they have something new and unique to show and impress us. I saw one of them licking on a straw for a long time. Some divine fun, I guessed! Then there were another two playing catch n’ catch running along the entire length of the pavement. Not many birds today- with the crackers and the fireworks continuing till the morning, I guess it wasn’t safe for them to come out.

A nice, warm day to be out in the sun and take in some fresh air. We did wind up our practice way ahead of time and then what, it’s a Sunday. We will definitely have some more fun, that’s what Sundays are meant for!!!!

From This...... To That.....

I went on my morning walk a little later than usual. The sky today reflected a beautiful light pink tinge. This is the picture that I clicked from my balcony.
In the park the manure addition has been completed and the whole place looks a mess. In this picture you can see the pavement surrounding the park and that’s Betsy shaking a leg! Today there was also a new visitor, a black dog with white blots, quite tall and masculine. I couldn’t find any of my squirrel friends. Surprising as it may seem, coz there’s never been a morning without them hopping and playing in the park.

I saw an awful sight today as well. This picture is the remains of what could have been possibly a pigeon. The ever cunning cat was the villain in the scene. (No offense to the cat lovers, though!) Till the time I reached the scene of the death, the cat had happily finished its morning breakfast. It was a pity scene. The feathers surrounding the cat were the only hints that signalled that they belonged to a once lively pigeon! My sympathy towards the dead took a back seat when the cat looked at me with her glaring eyes (beautiful, though, they were) hinting me to carry on with my walk or else see myself as her next target!

A Sleepy Morning!

I didn’t go for my morning walk today. I missed it but had a good sleep!!!!!!

Betsy does a “Say Cheese!!!!!”

Guys I would like to introduce you all to one of my park friends- Betsy. She has become a very frequent visitor in the park where I go. And today she was at the height of her enthusiasm, posing for me in a very elegant manner. Surprised as I was, I really admired her gesture and her photogenic abilities.

And the park has also been dug up for the yearly manure addition that takes place at this time of the year.

Full Of Spirit!!!!

9th October 2009

I think no creature in a park can beat the zestfulness of squirrels. I saw many of them today, all geared up, hopping about the park in some unique fashion that only they could have explained. One cute, little buddy was nibbling on grass, raising himself on his hind legs and holding onto the filament of grass with its front limbs. It was a sight that till this point of time amazes me. Sadly, I couldn’t get a picture for he was too quick for me and obviously not a poser!

A Flowery Morning!!!!

Source: From My Park

The highlight of my morning walk today was a whole lot of jasmine flowers that had blossomed overnight. As I walked on the pavement near to them, I stretched out my arms to embrace them and imagining them as clumps of snow wouldn’t be a misnomer. My hands brushed against the dewdrops on the leaves- a moment of utmost sanctity. They looked just so fresh and full of life, passing along an equal message to us.

Getting Started!!!!

6th October 2009
It is a small, recently old park where I go. Established in 1995, it has become a very important part of my daily routine. When I started with my stint of morning walks, maintaining a good health was my sole motto. But gradually as I have made myself more acquainted to this park and its vivid niche, going there no more requires an inspiration. It is a place where I feel I belong.

The weather forecast stated a thundershower and though we were tricked by the weatherman, we did get a respite from the over working sun which had gone haywire for the past few weeks. And so there it was- an off the line October morning. Pleasant, cheerful, incredible and serene. It was especially beautiful morning today with the wind as the hero of the morning show. Through all the rough and the good times it has learnt to make an entrance, and every time it did so, it added to the morning bliss.

I saw my old buddies- my ant friends, the black dog that is a frequent visitor to the park, the kit of pigeons pecking on wheat grains, mynahs and my zestful squirrel friends hopping up and down the trees. They are a complete wonder in themselves each one of them braving the interfering humans every morning. But somewhere in them I have found a great companion to cheer me up.
